At the end of this page you will find tips and reasons to use this page. 2010 Keystone Legends Tour Point Fund and Tour Opener The Keystone Legends 2010 Tour begins Friday night, April 16, at Linda's Speedway. We will have a $5,000 point fund in 2010 courtesy of zMAX and distributed by INEX. Distribution of this money to drivers and owners on the Keystone Legends Tour will be made according to the following schedule. Please be sure to carefully provide the exact social security or EIN # on your 2010 pit application as this information will be necessary to release your point fund check. We will also continue to pay the top Legends purse in the area for each event on the schedule. Your support of these events will determine if more dates can be added in 2011. Please also provide your cell phone or other contact information on your pit application which can be used in case of a rainout or cancellation. We were able to save a lot of miles last year with early notification of rainouts. We can only contact you if YOU provide the correct phone number. We use your pit application for this purpose. The INEX Legends will compete at Shangri-La II for a track point fund and INEX license holders will also receive national points, explained track manager Amy Stilson. Race dates are May 16 and August 1 with the Race of Champions Modified Series, May 30, July 4, and September 5 during Shangri-La II's summer holiday racing weekends, and October 2-3 as part of the second annual Fall Brawl. The Legends made their Shangri-La II debut as part of the 2009 Labor Day Under Fire and returned for the Fall Brawl. New Jersey racer Mike Alcaro won both feature events, but only after tight, crowd-pleasing battles that included Southern Tier standouts Daren Scherer and Matt Priscott, as well as former national champion Jason Urso who took time from his role as the track's Hoosier Tire dealer to compete in the Labor Day show. Alcaro became an instant fan of the Concrete Castle, comparing it to a Talladega for Legends cars because of the draft and the wide expanse of racing room all around the track. Scherer competed i n three classes at the Fall Brawl, winning the Sportsman Modified race and taking home a top five in the Mighty Modifieds the following day. He gave the Legends credit for sharpening his competitive edge, saying "You really have to work in those cars. It makes you a better driver." The INEX Legends are the largest class of race cars running under one sanction and one rule book in the USA, with over 3,500 drivers competing in 2,000 sanctioned races in 2009. The 5/8 scale replicas of the Ford and Chevy coupes of the 1930's which launched short track stock car racing are powered by sealed 122 horsepower Yamaha engines and weigh 1,300 pounds.. Drivers as diverse as Sprint Cup star Kyle Busch and NASCAR modified champion Donny Lia started their careers in Legends. Legend drivers from the Northeast UNITE!!! In 2009 there were some Saturdays in which 5 different tracks attempted to pull in full fields from a limited amount of cars. The result was small car counts with small payouts. I contacted all the INEX asphalt tracks in NY NJ and PA and asked who was willing to agree to the following payout for 20 cars and above on a Saturday. 1-300 2-225 3-175 4-125 5-100 6-90 7-80 8-70 9-60 10-55 11-50 12-45 13-40 14-35 15 to 24-30 Wall and Riverhead were not interested. Chemung has chosen to run on Fridays with a close payout. Shangri-La will meet the payout and run on Sunday. Bethel has 16 Saturdays with the agreed payout and Mahoning Valley has 7. If there are more than 30 members, they will be split in two. Pros and Masters in one & Semi-pros and Young Lions in the other. The points will be the same as INEX awards. The only difference will be that points outside the series will not count. Total of 24 plus one regional will count. It has been a while since I last contacted you on behalf of Bethel Motor Speedway, and I am pleased to say that everyone at the speedway has been busy preparing for the 2010 season. I hope that you have all been enjoying your time off from racing and getting ready for a new year of competition and fun. Our schedule was posted on the web site earlier tonight. We have an extensive Legends schedule, and we hope that it will give many of you the opportunity to make plans to come and visit the speedway. The Legends and Bandolero 2010 schedule is as follows: April 24 May 8 May 15 May 22 June 12 June 26 July 3 & 4 (Firecracker Madness weekend) July 17 July 31 August 7 (LegendStock 2010, raindate August 8) August 14 August 28 September 4 September 18 September 25 October 2 & 3 (Bethel Motor Madness weekend) I am excited to be able to announce that LegendStock 2010 will be held on Saturday, August 7th. The raindate is Sunday, August 8th. This is once again expected to be a premier Legends and Bandolero event at the speedway, and we will begin sending out details and PR soon. The entire Bethel Motor Speedway schedule can be viewed online by following the "2010 Schedule" link at the top of the home page Bethel Motor Speedway. More details about the upcoming season will be coming shortly, but I just wanted to take the opportunity to get the schedule into everyone's hands as soon as possible. If you have not yet submitted a driver profile form, please do so through the web site (follow the "Driver Profiles" link and fill out the form at the bottom of the page), or you can email me the information directly. It doesn't matter if you raced at Bethel once or a dozen times - we want to include everyone. I will choose three pictures to accompany each profile out of the photos we have from the 2009 season, but we do plan to update the photos as early into the 2010 season as possible. Of course, if you have specific pictures you would like to use, send them to me in an email and I will use your requested pictures as long as I can resize them for the site.
